Temporarily removing Stripe as a payment option is a quick and easy process. Turning Stripe off will remove the following payment options from invoices sent with Invoice Simple:
Credit & Debit Cards
Bank Transfer from a US bank (also known as ACH payments)
Digital Wallets (Apple Pay & Google Pay)
Stripe Link (securely saves your customer’s payment method for easy future payments)
There are 3 ways to toggle Stripe Payments on and off :
Go to “Settings” to turn Stripe on/off for all invoices.
Go to “Configure Payment Methods” to toggle specific payment methods on/off (i.e just card payments but not bank transfers)
Go to “Edit Invoice” to turn Stripe on/off for individual invoices.
Please note, any changes to your global “Settings” will only apply to new invoices you create. Consider these two scenarios to help you understand how it works:
Yesterday you created a draft invoice. Today you decided to turn off Stripe in your “Settings”. Your draft invoice will still have Stripe enabled. If you’d like to send that invoice to a client without Stripe payment options, then you will need to manually turn them off in the “Edit Invoice” section.
You turned off Stripe payment options in your “Settings” and then created an invoice. Your new invoice will have Stripe payment options turned off. If you’d like to turn it back on for this particular invoice, you can do so in the “Edit Invoice” section.
Can you toggle specific payment methods like “card payments” on and off?
Yes, you can. This is called “configuring payment methods” and can be done from the “Settings” page.
On mobile, you can find your “Settings” by tapping the gear/cog icon on the top left-hand side of your screen. It should look something like the image below:
That will open up the “Settings” screen.
Scroll down until you see “Configure payment methods” and tap the box.
Next, the configuration settings should open up. There you’ll see the current methods that are available to you and what fees are associated with those methods.
If the toggle switch is green, it means that the payment method is turned on. A gray toggle indicates that the payment method is turned off.
In the below example, all payment methods are turned on.
To turn a particular method off, simply tap the green toggle to turn it gray.
You can turn the various payment methods on and off whenever you want by tapping the toggle.
Remember, because this is the “global” settings for payments, these changes will apply to all new invoices you create. You cannot turn these specific methods on and off on an individual invoice level.
How to toggle Stripe Payments on and off for all my invoices?
Go to your “Settings” page.
On mobile, you can find your “Settings” by tapping the gear/cog icon on the top left-hand side of your screen. It should look something like the image below:
That will open up the “Settings” screen. Find the Stripe logo and tap on the toggle switch on the right-hand side of the screen.
NOTE: The toggle switch is green if Stripe is turned on, and gray if Stripe is turned off.
In the above image, Stripe has been toggled on. If you’d like to turn it off, tap the toggle switch to turn it gray. You can turn the Stripe on and off whenever you want by tapping the toggle.
How to toggle Stripe payments on and off for individual invoices?
Sometimes you want to include Stripe payment options on a case-by-case basis.
For example, let’s say a customer has told you explicitly that they’d like to pay in cash. To create a good customer experience, you’d want to turn online payment options off for that particular invoice (but not all invoices).
You can easily do so in the “edit invoice” section when creating or editing your invoice.
Simply scroll down until you find the “Payments” section.
When Stripe payments is turned on, the toggle will be green like this:
To turn Stripe off, tap the toggle. You’ll know it’s off when it turns gray (as PayPal is below in this example).
Now Stripe is toggled off only for this particular invoice. Any new invoice you create will use the global settings in the “Settings” page.
